A 14-year-old boy was injured when the rear wheel of an electric private car reportedly ran over his foot outside a school on Sycamore Street in Tai Kok Tsui on the morning of 1 September, the first day of the new school term. He was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital and police are investigating how the accident happened.
The student had travelled to school in a private car driven by a family member. After getting out near the school entrance, he reportedly turned back towards the vehicle to retrieve an item left inside before the car moved and ran over his foot.
The boy remained conscious after the accident and appeared to be in pain. School staff brought him a chair, while paramedics arrived to assess him.
He was then taken by ambulance to Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment. Reports said a woman, described as a companion or female relative, was with him or accompanied him to hospital; her identity and relationship to the student were not confirmed.
Police received a report of the accident, and the male driver stayed at the scene to assist with the investigation. The cause of the accident, the student’s full injuries and his hospital condition had not been confirmed.
