Police received a report on 30 April and arrested a 17-year-old male student from TWGHs Wong Fut Nam College the same day on suspicion of illegally recording or observing private parts. The allegation has not been proven.
The student was later released on bail pending further investigation. The case is being handled by the fourth team of the Kowloon City district crime investigation unit.
The school said it had notified police and the Education Bureau after the incident and was co-operating with the investigation. The Education Bureau said the school had activated a crisis-management team, including support for students affected by the incident and communication with relevant parents.
The Education Bureau said it had received the school’s notification and reminded schools to strengthen students’ values and conduct.
The school said it would not make further public comment while the police investigation continued, citing due process and the privacy of people involved. It said it would provide an appropriate account to parents, teachers and students through established procedures after the investigation was completed.
A self-formed Wong Fut Nam concern group has asked the school to explain the matter to teachers and students through a formal channel, such as its website or a notice, by 13 September. The group claims the school has not issued a formal notice to the whole school or explained its handling arrangements and campus-safety review. The reports did not include a specific response from the school to those claims.
The investigation remains under way. The reports did not provide details of the alleged conduct, the number of people affected or whether any images were involved, and did not say whether charges would be filed.
