A 19-year-old man was injured when the P-plate private car he was driving overturned in Tai Wai early on September 3. The vehicle was reportedly turning from Che Kung Street into Mei Tin Road when it lost control, struck a central divider and hit a concrete embankment before overturning.

The driver was reported to have climbed out of the vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital. Reports described the car and roadside facilities as damaged, but differed over which side of the vehicle’s front was affected.

Police said the driver passed both alcohol and drug-driving tests. Ming Pao reported that his breath-alcohol reading was zero.

Police cordoned off the scene to investigate. The overturned vehicle was later righted and towed away for examination.

The exact time of the crash was reported variously as shortly after midnight or about 12.30am. The cause of the suspected loss of control, and the driver’s latest condition, had not been confirmed in the supplied reports.
