Police arrested a 48-year-old local man at Tsing Yi Pier on September 1 over the suspected unlawful filming or observation of intimate parts, following a report involving a woman at a Tsing Yi supermarket. He has not been reported as charged and remains detained for questioning.
Police received the report on August 28 from a 28-year-old woman who suspected that a man had filmed her inside a supermarket on Fung Shue Wo Road. The man allegedly fled after the incident.
The Tsing Yi Division Special Duties Squad identified a man suspected of being involved and worked with the fifth team of the Kwai Tsing district crime investigation unit to arrange the arrest, police said.
The case is being followed up by the fifth team of the Kwai Tsing district crime investigation unit. Ming Pao, citing police, reported that unlawful filming or observation of intimate parts is a serious offence carrying a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
