A 52-year-old local man was charged on October 7 with one count of knowingly publishing a publication with seditious intent under section 24 of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance. He had been arrested in the Eastern District on July 9.
Police allege he repeatedly published messages on social-media platforms that sought to stir hatred towards China, the Hong Kong SAR government and the judiciary, and to encourage others to use unlawful means to change matters established by the Hong Kong SAR in accordance with the law.
He appeared at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on October 7. The case was adjourned to December 15 for a further hearing.
