An 88-year-old man who fell while boarding a minibus on Chuk Yuen Road died in hospital six days later. He died at 9.21pm on 8 October.

The fall happened at about 4.35pm on 2 October. The man injured his head and legs and was conscious when an ambulance took him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

His son told HK01 that his father had just finished afternoon tea and was boarding route 72 to go home from the stop opposite Chuk Yuen Market. About an hour and a half after his admission, a scan showed extensive bleeding on the left side of his father’s brain, and he became unconscious, the son said.

Police said on 9 October that they had arrested the 69-year-old minibus driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death. He was being detained for investigation. Police investigators believe the driver may have moved off without noticing the man boarding, who then lost his balance and fell.

The man’s son has appealed to anyone who witnessed the fall to provide information that could help establish what happened.
