Abby Choi’s partner rejected a defence suggestion that he had wanted a romantic or sexual relationship with the third defendant, telling the High Court he “absolutely disagreed”. He was giving evidence as her murder trial continued.
He said the two men had become friends at school, but grew less close after the defendant disappeared and he began a relationship with Choi.
The witness said contact between the families was largely for the children, who needed opportunities to see one another. He said that was a main reason he and the defendant remained on friendly terms.
He said he had remained friendly only on the surface. The property’s registered owner was not Choi, but he regarded it as hers and wanted to recover it without confrontation. He also said the defendant could influence his father.
