ARGO suspended sales of its TFC10 power bank on October 14, describing the move as a preventive measure after a power bank caught fire and injured a cameraman.

The fire happened on October 9 in an i-CABLE News vehicle outside 165 Un Chau Street in Cheung Sha Wan. The 27-year-old cameraman was charging his phone when the power bank caught fire. The driver freed him from his seatbelt, and passers-by helped tackle the flames before firefighters extinguished them. The cameraman suffered burns and was taken to hospital.

Investigators initially believed the fire was caused by a short circuit in the power bank, HK01 reported.

ARGO said it would send samples from all batches of the TFC10 for testing by a third-party professional organisation and cooperate with the relevant departments’ investigation.
