Rubbish and debris caught fire aboard a moored barge near Ngong Wan Road on Stonecutters Island at about 9.52am on 17 October, sending up heavy smoke.
Fifteen people were evacuated and no casualties were reported. Firefighters used two hoses and two smoke-diving teams. The fire was mostly extinguished by 11.18am, after which crews sprayed water to cool the area.
The Hong Kong Fire Services Department advised people affected by drifting smoke or odour to stay indoors if possible, close their windows and remain calm.
