Two separate private cars drove onto pedestrian areas in Sha Tin and Causeway Bay on October 20, coming close to people in footage circulating online. HK01 reported that neither incident caused casualties.
In Sha Tin, a car slowly mounted the pavement at a junction on Sha Kok Street outside Jat Min Chuen. Several people were waiting by a traffic-light pole close to the vehicle.
In Causeway Bay, a car entered the pedestrian area outside SOGO, at the crossing between Yee Wo Street and Great George Street. Pedestrians moved out of its way before it returned to the road.
The SOGO site had been the subject of a safety proposal earlier in the year. In January 2026, the Hong Kong Police Force, Highways Department and Transport Department submitted a proposal to Wan Chai District Council for about 60 bollards outside the store, at an estimated cost of about HK$5 million, to deter vehicle attacks on crowds.
