The Centre for Food Safety warned on 9 October that two prepackaged Marks & Spencer products might be contaminated with salmonella, and urged the public not to eat affected batches. Businesses holding them were told to stop using or selling them.

The products are a 285g vegan nut and quinoa salad with Middle Eastern sesame dressing, with consume-by dates from 8 to 11 October 2026, and a 115g pistachio and Parmesan cheese pesto, dated from 8 to 13 October. Both are from the UK and list ALF Retail Hong Kong Limited as importer.

The Centre said the importer had stopped sales, removed the affected products from shelves and begun a recall at the Centre’s instruction. Its investigation is continuing.

Salmonella infection can cause fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea, the Centre said.

For enquiries about the recall, the Centre listed a hotline, 8 0093 1457, available during business hours.
