Chan Chi-hang, the representative of Channel C operator Yik Yuen Media Production Limited, faces five summons charges over alleged unpaid wages totalling about HK$161,000 owed to three employees in 2025.
The charges comprise four counts of failing to pay wages by the due date and one count of failing to pay wages by the due date when an employment contract ended.
Chan denied all five charges and appeared without legal representation at a third pre-trial review at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on 10 September 2026. The prosecution said it did not accept his request for the case not to proceed and had clear instructions to continue with the trial.
The prosecution expects to call three witnesses from outside the parties involved, while Chan said he would call two factual witnesses. Chan also sought undisclosed documents, including information about the company’s frozen bank account. The prosecution said it had provided him with all the documents for the trial.
The trial is scheduled to take place at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts on 13 and 15 October 2026. Channel C has ceased operations; Star Headline reported that it began stopping operations in 2025.
