A man aged about 50 was found unconscious after reportedly falling while rock climbing at Suicide Cliff on Fei Ngo Shan, as rescuers searched along the cliff and slope.

His male climbing partner reported the incident to police in the early afternoon. The climber reportedly had a rope attached to him, but his partner could not see what happened after the fall and did not know the extent of his injuries. Police, firefighters and the Government Flying Service went to the site, while a helicopter circled above the area.

Firefighters searched from the cliff edge using ropes, with high-angle and mountain-rescue teams also taking part. The climber was found lying on the slope in the late afternoon, as rescuers tried to bring him up. HK01 reported that heavy rain began during the operation, which continued despite the weather.

Suicide Cliff is listed by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department among country-park locations where fatal and serious accidents have occurred; HK01 reported fatal falls there in 2017 and 2020.
