The Chinese University of Hong Kong has appointed Philip Chiu Wai-yan, dean of its Faculty of Medicine, to also lead the School of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

The additional deanship and his post as associate vice-president (medical) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, take effect on 1 November 2026. The appointment term will match his existing term as dean in Hong Kong.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong says the joint leadership is intended to strengthen cooperation between the schools in teaching, research and clinical innovation. It plans to use its two teaching hospitals as platforms for clinical research and medical education, and to support the development of medical technologies and their translation into practice.
