A man cycling near the Shek O Village Road car park was bitten by a dog at about 9am to 9.10am on August 18 and was taken to Eastern Hospital for treatment, according to reports.
The man reportedly encountered a domestic worker walking a dog. The animal then suddenly bit or lunged at him. Star Headline identified the handler as a 62-year-old domestic worker.
The injured man reported the incident himself. Paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene before taking him to hospital.
Police classified the case as a dog-bite incident. Reports said relevant authorities were following up, with one saying the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department was handling the case and another saying relevant authorities had sent personnel to take the dog away for examination.
Details about the injury and the dog differed between the reports. Star Headline said the injured man was 53 and had a bleeding bite to his right thigh, while i-CABLE News reported that he was 54 and had injured his lower leg. The dog was described respectively as a black animal about 1 metre long and weighing about 60kg, and as a village dog.
The reports did not provide the man’s latest condition, a confirmed description of the dog or the outcome of the official follow-up.
