A male driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing dangerous drugs after a private car was spotted being driven unsteadily during a police drone enforcement operation or patrol in the Route 3 area on the morning of August 20. The vehicle was later stopped near Ching Cheung Road.
Media reports differed over the car’s precise route, describing it as travelling on a Route 3 slip road or a slip road from the Kwai Tsing Highway towards Ching Cheung Road. One report also said the car crossed double white lines.
Officers stopped the car at about 8am near a roadblock on Ching Cheung Road after finding that the lettering on its number plate did not meet regulations.
The reports said officers described the driver as appearing dazed and detected a cannabis smell in the car or on the driver. Police searched the vehicle and brought in sniffer dogs to assist with the investigation.
The reports gave differing descriptions of the items found, including suspected cannabis or cannabis flower, a used cannabis cigarette and seven pills commonly known as Viagra. They differed over the quantity and precise description of the cannabis-related items.
