A private-car driver stopped and carried a young boy to safety after finding him alone near a busy road in Tai Kok Tsui at about 4.30pm on August 30, 2026. The boy had become separated from his mother while they were at Cherry Street Park.
The driver moved the boy to the roadside or another safe location and called police. Reports differed over the precise junction, with accounts identifying different nearby roads.
An account attributed to the driver or the owner of the vehicle’s dashcam said the boy had been crying continuously. The driver reportedly tried to comfort him before handing him to police, after which the child cried again.
The boy’s mother later reported the case, and police returned him to her. Officers also issued her a warning, according to Ming Pao, which reported that no one was arrested.
Online commenters praised the driver as a lifesaver. The reports gave different descriptions of the boy’s age, as either two or two and a half, and did not establish the precise location or duration of the separation.
