At least one driver was found unconscious after a collision on the Island Eastern Corridor near North Point Ferry Pier at about 10am on 5 September 2026. The driver was taken to hospital by ambulance for emergency treatment.
Some lanes at the scene were closed during the response. The Eastern Harbour Crossing was also intermittently closed in one direction, although reports differed over which direction was affected.
Reports differed on the number of vehicles involved, with one describing a collision between two private cars and another reporting three vehicles. Online footage appeared to show a black private car losing control and hitting vehicles ahead, but the footage did not establish how the crash happened.
Star Headline reported that a traffic officer went to the scene to help and performed artificial respiration for about three minutes on the unconscious driver inside a vehicle.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Reports have raised the unconfirmed possibility that the driver may have fainted beforehand. The driver's identity and latest condition, as well as the time when the road restrictions would be lifted, were not clear from the reports.
