A school minibus and a private car collided head-on on Hong Tung Street near Yat Tung Estate in Tung Chung at 8.51am on August 17, reportedly injuring a female caretaker and eight children aged under six. The children’s injuries were described as minor and not serious.

Emergency responders attended the scene. The caretaker reportedly complained of lower-back pain, while the private-car driver and a male passenger were said to be uninjured.

The minibus was carrying the children along Hong Tung Street towards a school in Yat Tung Estate when the crash happened.

According to the minibus driver, the private car was travelling in the opposite lane before suddenly turning right into a junction and colliding with the minibus. The account had not been confirmed by police.

Police were investigating the cause of the collision. No official account or confirmed finding on how it happened, the children’s school, or the injured people’s final medical condition had been reported.
