Electoral officials received 696 nomination forms in the first three days of nominations for the 2026 Election Committee subsector poll: 685 for candidates and 11 from designated bodies.

On Friday, 9 October, the third day of the period, officials received 225 forms — 220 for candidates and five from designated bodies. Nine people filed to contest the wholesale and retail subsector that day. Its Legislative Council member said that, to his knowledge, the number of candidates had already exceeded the subsector’s 17 elected seats.

Nominations close on 20 October. The poll is scheduled for 22 November, when the new 1,500-member Election Committee will elect the chief executive and 40 Legislative Council members.
