The executor of late businessman Lin Jian-ming’s estate has filed a claim in Hong Kong’s High Court seeking HK$1.6 million in outstanding payment, legal costs and related sums from painting buyer Xiao Yang, according to Star Headline.

The plaintiff is lawyer Zhou Bing-chiu, acting as executor of Lin’s estate, and Xiao is named as the defendant. The action concerns an arrangement for Xiao to buy back the four-panel painting “Meeting Friends of Plum” for HK$3.2 million in four instalments, the court filing says.

The filing alleges that Xiao paid the first two instalments but made no further payments. The estate is seeking the remaining HK$1.6 million, as well as legal costs and other sums.

The filing says Lin died on January 8, 2021. Star Headline reported on August 17 that a search of the Judiciary’s website had not found a hearing date at that time.
