Kiki said on social media on September 2 that the Shiba Inu she had kept with her late fiancé, firefighter Ho Wai-ho, had died. In a tribute, she said the dog had “run to find Daddy”.
Reports said Ho died while serving as a firefighter during the Wang Fuk Court blaze. Kiki uploaded several photographs of the dog, including a short video that Ming Pao described as showing Ho running with it.
Star Headline reported that the couple had taken the dog hiking, running and to the beach, and had visited the Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees together. The report said Ho, who was 37 at the time, was later awarded the rank of fire sergeant posthumously.
Star Headline also reported that Ho helped evacuate a wheelchair user during the fire before becoming separated from his colleagues and ultimately dying. That account was provided by the newspaper and was not detailed in the other report.
The dog’s name is reported differently: Star Headline called it “Duo Zhu”, while Ming Pao used “Duo Duo”. Friends and online users reportedly left messages of condolence under Kiki’s post. The reports did not state when or why the dog died.
