Customs and Excise Department officers arrested five people after detecting three suspected drug-trafficking cases involving passengers arriving at Hong Kong airport on September 29 and 30. The seizures included about 46 kilograms of suspected cannabis flowers and products containing suspected Part 1 poisons, with a combined estimated value of about HK$9.2 million.
The first case involved three Filipino passengers who arrived from Bangkok on September 29: a man and two women. Officers found about 35 kilograms of suspected cannabis flowers in their checked luggage, along with products containing suspected Part 1 poisons in the women’s luggage.
In the other two cases, a man from mainland China arrived from Bangkok via Ho Chi Minh City carrying about 6 kilograms of suspected cannabis flowers, while a woman from mainland China on the same route was found with about 5 kilograms. Customs said all three cases remained under investigation.
