The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said it had noted concerns about rats and environmental hygiene at Cherry Street Park and nearby areas.
It contacted the park’s managing department and inspected the site on the morning of 19 October, offering professional advice and support.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department is responsible for cleaning, rat prevention and control, and day-to-day management at the park, HK01 reported.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department was also stepping up cleaning and rat-control work in nearby public places under its own jurisdiction, and would coordinate joint operations if needed. It would contact relevant enforcement departments about suspected illegal pigeon feeding and, if needed, take enforcement action within its own remit.
