A former chief inspector has filed a civil claim against the Hong Kong Police Force and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region over an incident at CUHK Medical Centre on 22 October 2023.

Her statement of claim alleges that officers detained her without lawful grounds and assaulted or battered her, causing bodily injury, loss of liberty, humiliation and pain. She is seeking damages.

The civil case is separate from her criminal case. She was convicted in August 2024 of disorderly behaviour in a public place while drunk and sentenced to 15 days in prison, suspended for two years. Her appeal was heard in June 2026, and judgment was adjourned.

A case-management hearing in the civil claim is listed for 12 April 2027.
