The Independent Commission Against Corruption has charged a former customer service and operations assistant at One Satoshi Trading (Hong Kong) Limited over the alleged diversion of customers’ cryptocurrency trades through wallets supplied by two men. The transactions involved more than 1.1 million Tether coins and were worth nearly HK$9 million, according to the commission.
The alleged conduct took place between August and November 2023. The former employee allegedly received HK$200 for each day on which he facilitated a transaction.
The charge is one count of conspiracy for an agent to accept an advantage. The commission alleges that he made private cash purchases and sales of Tether with exchange customers.
At the time, the 31-year-old worked at the company’s Sheung Shui branch, dealt with customers and was required to use the company’s cryptocurrency wallet for transactions.
The former employee was granted bail and is due to enter a plea at Fanling Magistrates’ Court on October 2, 2026.
