Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption has charged the 58-year-old former chairman of Greentown China Holdings with one count of conspiracy for an agent to accept an advantage. The charge concerns an alleged HK$20 million arrangement linked to the company’s acquisition of a Dalian property project.
The charge alleges that between January 2020 and March 2023, the former chairman conspired with a middleman, a shareholder of a Dalian property developer and others, including his son, to accept HK$20 million from the shareholder. The alleged aim was to help Greentown obtain equity interests in the developer.
Greentown bought the Dalian project for RMB440 million. The ICAC said the developer’s shareholder had been pitching the project to the company since 2019, before the period covered by the alleged conspiracy.
The ICAC said the former chairman allegedly solicited bribes through the middleman; the payments are suspected to have been deposited in multiple instalments into his son’s bank account. Greentown said the ICAC executed a search warrant at its main Hong Kong office on June 17, 2026.
The case was listed for mention at Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on October 9, 2026.
