A former assistant warden at a Hong Chi Association residential hostel in Tai Po has appealed his convictions for raping a woman resident on five occasions.

The complainant was a woman resident whom prosecutors described as having an intellectual disability.

A seven-member jury found the former assistant warden guilty on all five counts in September 2026. Two verdicts were unanimous and the other three were decided by 6–1 majorities. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison in October.

Court records show he filed an appeal on 22 October; no hearing had been scheduled by 28 October.
