The Chief Executive in Council has accepted a recommendation for a 2% pay rise for judges and judicial officers in 2026/27. The decision was announced on 7 October, and the adjustment is to take effect retrospectively from 1 April 2026.

The recommendation came from the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service, which submitted its 2026 salary review report to the Chief Executive on 31 August. A Government spokesperson said the committee used a balanced approach, taking account of the Judiciary’s position and the principle of safeguarding judicial independence.

The review considered a range of factors, including recruitment and retention, economic conditions and the Government’s financial position. The Government said it would apply to the Finance Committee for approval of the pay-adjustment proposal.
