The High Court on 8 September 2026 approved the agreed withdrawal of Bao Yuan Finance Company’s bankruptcy petition against Tang Yiu Sing, son of the late property figure Tang Shing Bor. Bao Yuan Finance agreed to pay the legal costs. The company has separately filed a bankruptcy petition concerning Tang Shing Bor’s estate, with his sons Tang Yiu Man and Tang Yiu Sing representing the estate.
The reports differ on the timing of the estate petition. Star Headline said it was lodged on 7 September, while Ming Pao described it only as having been filed recently. The reports also use different terms for the sons’ formal role, describing them respectively as estate administrators and executors.
Star Headline reported that Bao Yuan Finance filed its petition against Tang Yiu Sing on 4 May 2026. It also said the company had taken action in September 2024 against Tang Shing Bor’s two sons over debt and sought the disposal of two units at Fook Cheong Building on King’s Road in Quarry Bay.
Star Headline reported that Bao Yuan Finance was pursuing a HK$62.5 million loan linked to Tang Shing Bor. It also referred to a judgment debt of HK$66.08 million, comprising principal and interest, together with other related costs. Any remaining proceeds from the property disposal would be returned to the Tang family. The report does not establish whether the two sums represent the same debt at different stages or separate figures.
Tang Yiu Sing has also faced other bankruptcy petitions. Ming Pao reported earlier petitions involving Liksang Developments and OCBC Bank (Hong Kong), with the latter naming Tang Yiu Sing, Tang Yiu Man and Tang Yiu Bong. Star Headline gave a different account of the number and sequence of petitions, and the reports do not resolve the discrepancy.
Both reports said the Tang family had in recent years been reported to face financial difficulties, with some properties linked to the family allegedly becoming mortgagee sales or being offered at reduced prices to raise funds. The reports do not establish the precise filing date of the estate petition consistently, and provide no hearing date or information on whether the family has filed a defence.
