A High Court trial continued on 7 September 2026 with the defence questioning police officers over allegations that a 24-year-old defendant was punched in a police vehicle and pressured after his arrest. The officers deny the allegations.
L.H.C.N. denies seven charges: four of incest and three of committing indecent acts with a child under 16. The alleged offences took place between 2 September 2013 and 17 July 2016 in a Hong Kong flat, when the girl identified as X was about seven to 10 years old. The charges allege that the defendant knew she was his sister.
The indictment alleges four acts of intercourse and three serious indecent acts, including oral sex and masturbation. The allegations have not been established in court, and the defendant has pleaded not guilty.
The defence said the defendant was arrested at his home on 10 December 2021 and was assaulted while being taken to Sha Tau Kok Police Station. It alleged that he was punched around the waist in the police vehicle and subjected to verbal pressure, including the remark, “Are you not human?”
Ming Pao reported that the defence also alleged an officer coached the defendant on how to describe the alleged sexual offences during a video-recorded cautioned interview. The alleged guidance included grouping multiple incidents as having happened on the same day or describing them as taking place at different locations.
The officers involved denied punching or pressuring the defendant and denied teaching him to fabricate or alter his account. One officer confirmed that he was in the police vehicle at the time. The reports differ on the number and position of officers whom the defence alleged were involved in the assault.
The trial was continuing on the afternoon of 7 September. The reports did not state whether the court had accepted the allegations of police misconduct, and did not give a final verdict or say whether the defendant would be convicted.
