Hiker flown to hospital after collapsing on MacLehose Trail during heat warning

A middle-aged man was flown to hospital after he collapsed and reportedly lost consciousness on the second section of the MacLehose Trail near Sai Wan Pavilion in Sai Kung on 29 September.

Police received a report at about 9.56am after the man became unwell while hiking with seven others. Rescue personnel attended, and a Government Flying Service helicopter took him to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for treatment.

The Hong Kong Observatory had issued a heat warning at 6.45am, forecasting hot weather and advising the public to guard against heatstroke. Sai Kung recorded a high of 33.5C.
