A 66-year-old man died after a suspected drowning about 100 metres offshore from Clear Water Bay First Beach, HK01 reported.
Police received a report at 7.24am on 9 October that a man was in difficulty in the water. People at the beach rescued him unconscious. Swimmers performed chest compressions before emergency crews continued resuscitation and took him by ambulance to Tseung Kwan O Hospital.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department says lifeguards at beaches under its management are on duty from 9am to 6pm daily in September and October. It advises swimmers not to go alone, to swim at beaches and during lifeguard hours, and to stay out of the water when a red flag is hoisted.
