Hong Kong’s Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises has announced 18 incoming firms in the programme’s seventh batch, spanning industries from advanced manufacturing to fintech. The announcement was made at a signing ceremony on Thursday.
With the latest group, 142 enterprises have been attracted. Figures cited by Financial Secretary Paul Chan project that the enterprises across all batches will bring about HK$84 billion in investment and create about 27,000 jobs.
The new firms also cover new energy, artificial intelligence and health technology. Half came from the mainland and half from elsewhere in the world, Chan said.
Chan cited one firm’s AI-enabled tool, which supports timely medical intervention in hospitals, and another’s vehicle technologies aimed at greener, smarter mobility in the region.
RTHK reported that one incoming firm had chosen Hong Kong for its Asia-Pacific headquarters. The firm said it planned to invest HK$200 million to HK$300 million over the next few years. Another company, a precious-metal refiner, said it plans to establish a Hong Kong refinery focused on gold.
