The Customs and Excise Department seized about 7,000 suspected counterfeit items, including watches, clothing and mobile phones, in 16 cases, with an estimated total value of HK$7.6 million. The operation ran from September 28 to October 13, 2026, and targeted goods being shipped across borders.
Wesley Yeung Tit-fung, an investigator with the department’s Copyright and Trademark Investigation Division, said some watches had fine workmanship that could make them difficult for ordinary consumers to distinguish from genuine products.
In one parcel investigation, Customs made a controlled delivery and arrested a 65-year-old recipient on October 9. Officers seized more than 1,000 suspected counterfeit items in the case, valued at about HK$520,000. The investigation is continuing, and the man is on bail pending further investigation.
