The Hong Kong Cycling Festival is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, with phased road arrangements expected to affect 120 franchised bus routes and seven dedicated minibus routes. Changes are due to begin at 1am and may involve diversions, shortened routes or bus stops being relocated until roads reopen.
The programme also includes the first World University Cup. The 56-kilometre ride will use the Yau Ma Tei section of the Central Kowloon Route.
Ahead of the festival, UCI-level riders and overseas university students visited GO PARK Sai Sha to meet local cycling teams and young riders. Ten teams, including SHKP Supernova, arrived at the venue to warm up. The nearly 1.5-kilometre cycling path has slopes and bends.
The Transport Department expects heavier-than-usual Sunday traffic on several roads and advises people travelling to Kowloon station on the Airport Express or West Kowloon high-speed rail station to allow extra time.
