Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is scheduled to close temporarily from October 12, 2026, for refurbishment aimed at adding more immersive storytelling, introducing design upgrades and improving service quality. The resort’s other two hotels, Disney Explorers Lodge and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, are expected to remain open during the work.
The resort has not announced how long the refurbishment will take, when it will be completed or when the hotel will reopen. It has also not provided details of the specific new facilities, designs or guest experiences that will be introduced.
Renovation work had already begun in the hotel’s west wing in June 2026, according to RTHK. The hotel has 400 rooms and two restaurants, the broadcaster reported.
The hotel is expected to retain its classic storytelling character after the refurbishment, although the final design has not been confirmed.
Visitors will have until October 11 to try Disney character dim sum at the hotel’s Crystal Lotus restaurant, with dishes themed around Olu Mel, Duffy and ShellieMay, and Winnie the Pooh. The offering is scheduled to end the day before the hotel closes.
The resort is also planning seasonal food and beverage offerings across its hotels. A Halloween buffet is scheduled at Studio Lounge in Disney’s Hollywood Hotel from September 17 to November 1, 2026. Marvel-themed food is planned there from October 12, 2026, through February 2027, while Frozen-themed items are due to be introduced in phases from November 19 through March 2027.
Hong Kong Disneyland has expanded its halal-friendly food choices to include snacks, two Halloween-exclusive barbecue platters and character ice lollies. The resort also said Plaza Inn, which reopened in June 2026, served more than 40,000 guests in the following three months; RTHK separately reported that nearly 150,000 Pixar Summer Fest food items were sold, while Ming Pao reported nearly 15,000 princess-themed buns sold with set meals. These figures relate to different products.
The refurbishment is intended to improve the hotel while preserving its storytelling character, but no reopening timetable or further information about the planned guest experiences has been given.
