Online registration for the 2027 Hong Kong Marathon’s 5km waterfront race and youth race opens on 20 October 2026. The 5km race will offer 4,500 places, up from 3,000.
The Hong Kong, China Association of Athletics Affiliates Limited says the marathon’s main events received more than 140,000 registrations, the highest number in the event’s history, for 78,000 places. Those events—the marathon, half-marathon, 10km and wheelchair races—are scheduled for 17 January 2027.
The 5km race is open to individual entrants aged 16 or older, and wheelchair users may take part. Family teams must have two to four members, including at least one participant aged 6 to 15 and one adult aged 18 or older. Places will be allocated by public lottery.
The youth race has 3,000 places for applicants aged 10 to 15, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Both races are scheduled for 16 January 2027 and start at Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground. The 5km race has a 60-minute time limit and the youth race a 30-minute limit; finishers receive a medal and an electronic certificate.
