Hong Kong’s National Day fireworks are scheduled to take place over Victoria Harbour at 8pm on October 1, 2026. The 23-minute display will be divided into eight sections and is being held to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
A total of 31,888 fireworks are planned, with the event budget estimated at about HK$18 million. According to i-CABLE News, the fireworks will be launched from three barges and six smaller pontoons at nine firing points, forming a screen about 900 metres wide and 250 metres high.
The reported designs include a sun, a smiling face, red hearts and yellow five-pointed stars. The second section, “Sunshine Brings Warmth”, will use gold and red rings to create sun effects. An organiser’s representative said the section would include a new effect in which beads or rings rotate like a pendulum or clock hand.
The fourth section, “Dreams Take Flight”, will feature changing multi-coloured balls and orbiting-star effects intended to create a space-themed atmosphere. The fifth section, “Embrace Love”, will combine red hearts with yellow stars.
Before the main display, a prelude will show the sponsor’s name, SUN LIFE, accompanied by 100-metre low-level fireworks.
RTHK reported that audiences will be able to listen to music synchronised with the fireworks through Radio 4. Separately, i-CABLE News said temporary sound systems would be installed along the Kowloon waterfront from the Hong Kong Cultural Centre to the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and across the Golden Bauhinia Square area on Hong Kong Island. The reports do not fully explain how those arrangements relate to each other.
The event remains scheduled for 8pm on October 1. The organiser’s reported theme is “Eternal Radiance Fireworks in Bloom, Illuminating our Country”, while another report gives the Chinese formulation as “Sun Life Fireworks Blooming China”; the supplied reports do not establish whether these are official matching versions.
