Hong Kong will host the APEC finance ministers’ meeting for the first time on 20 and 21 October. Finance ministers or representatives from 21 APEC economies are expected to attend.

The US is expected to send Deputy Secretary Francis Brooke and Assistant Secretary Erin Browne. HK01 reported that the US Treasury secretary is likely to be absent.

Delegates are due to discuss four areas of policy: using fiscal policy to support livelihoods, financing digital infrastructure, promoting inclusive finance in ways suited to local conditions, and cooperation on exchanges among young APEC financial professionals.
