Hong Kong is due to host the APEC finance ministers’ meeting for the first time on 20 and 21 October, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
More than 500 finance officials from APEC economies and leaders of international organisations are expected. Finance ministers or representatives from all 21 APEC member economies are also due to attend. The agenda includes global macroeconomic issues, financing for digital infrastructure and progress on the APEC China Year of work. Delegates are scheduled to begin with closed-door work on a joint statement on 20 October, followed by the formal opening and discussion sessions. The statement is due to be adopted before the meeting closes on the morning of 21 October.
In the surrounding area, the road connecting Convention Avenue to the metered parking spaces is closed from 10am on 16 October until 11pm on 22 October. All metered parking spaces on Convention Avenue opposite the Grand Hyatt are suspended from midnight on 16 October to 11pm on 22 October.
Lung King Street is scheduled to close to all vehicles from 7am to 10am on both 20 and 21 October. Hong Kong’s security secretary said a temporary flight-restriction zone would extend three kilometres from the venue, with unauthorised drone flights prohibited.
Some of the suspended parking spaces are being used by APEC shuttle buses, with routes linking the airport and meeting venue to hotels including the Grand Hyatt and Renaissance Harbour View.
