The Joint Office, run by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and the Buildings Department, received 19,048 reports of water seepage in private buildings between 16 July and 22 October. Diane Wong Shuk-han, Under Secretary for Environment and Ecology, gave the figures in reply to a legislator’s question.
By 22 October, 12,746 cases—about 67% of the reports—had completed the first-stage inspection. The office had also issued recommended repair notices in 4,322 cases, to units suspected of being the source of the seepage.
Further investigations covering the second and third stages had begun in 427 cases, about 10% of those in which recommended repair notices had been issued.
