The Centre for Food Safety has urged consumers not to eat an affected batch of Kung Wo Beancurd Factory rose fermented bean curd after a sample contained 140,000 Bacillus cereus per gram. The product is listed as weighing 340.5g.

The Centre said more than 100,000 Bacillus cereus organisms per gram is an unsatisfactory level for ready-to-eat food under its food microbiological content guidelines. The sample was collected from a retailer in Sham Shui Po.

The Centre’s preliminary investigation found the affected batch comprised 48 bottles, of which 26 were sold at the retailer between September 24 and October 9, 2026. It instructed the retailer to stop sales and remove the batch for recall. The retailer had voluntarily handed the remaining stock to the Centre for handling and destruction.

Consumers can call the Centre for Food Safety’s hotline on 4621 7383 with enquiries about the recall.
