A magistrate at a magistrates’ court in West Kowloon has ruled that prosecutors established a prima facie case in a 61-year-old woman’s trial over materials displayed at her home.

The retired woman pleaded not guilty to one count of knowingly publishing or displaying seditious publications. The charge alleges that flags and written materials were displayed at her home in Tin Chung Court, Tin Shui Wai, between 23 March and 4 November 2024.

She told the court that the displays expressed dissatisfaction with security staff and Communist Party policies concerning mainland migrants. She denied having the ability or intention to incite anyone.

The prosecution called a police officer, a neighbour and a security guard to give evidence. The magistrate asked the woman to consider whether to testify. The hearing was adjourned to continue the following day.
