Police said they arrested a 32-year-old man on 30 June on suspicion of indecent assault. He was released on bail pending investigation and required to report to police in late October.
The woman said the incident happened on 26 June while she was working part-time at a restaurant in Causeway Bay. She alleged that a bar manager made a sexualised remark and then deliberately touched her right buttock as she passed him in a staff passage.
She said she complained to a restaurant manager and decided to report the incident, but the manager and other management staff urged her to reconsider. The manager also told her not to make a big deal of it. Police said they received a report on 27 June about an alleged assault the previous day at a restaurant on Sunning Road in Wan Chai.
The woman said a doctor told her she had PTSD after the incident. She described spending several thousand Hong Kong dollars on medical care and said wearing long sleeves and a large hat outdoors helped her feel safer.
