An 81-year-old man was found dead inside a flat at One Madison on Castle Peak Road on 6 October, while a 73-year-old woman was taken to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
The incident came to light around 5pm after a security guard reported an odour from the unit to police and said the residents had not appeared for some time. Firefighters forced open the flat when emergency personnel arrived and found the two residents inside.
The man was confirmed dead at the scene. The woman was alive but only partly conscious, and was taken by ambulance to hospital. The pair were reported to be married, while police were investigating their identities, relationship and the circumstances of the incident.
