A 61-year-old man was injured while resisting an alleged attempt to steal his watch in a stairwell at the Wan Chai Integrated Centre on the morning of the 17th, with police seeking the suspect. The incident reportedly occurred at about 8.46am at the centre at 302–308 Hennessy Road.
The man, surnamed Leung, was walking with his wife when a lone robber allegedly emerged in the stairwell and tried to seize his watch. Leung resisted and struggled with the man before being pushed to the ground.
Leung suffered injuries to the back of his head, hands and mouth, while his wife sustained an abrasion to her knee. The couple reportedly did not lose any property, and the robber fled after the struggle.
The wife reported the incident to police shortly afterwards. Both spouses were taken by ambulance to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment. No further information about the extent of their injuries or their condition was provided.
Police reportedly classified the case as assault with intent to rob and conducted a search after receiving the report, but did not find the suspect. Officers are seeking a South Asian male suspect, according to the police account; the investigation is continuing.
