An unattended dog with a microchip was detained after a joint operation by police and the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department in the San Tin and Mai Po area of Yuen Long. The operation ran from about 7pm to 10pm on 29 September, and the dog was taken to an animal management centre for detention and observation.
The department said it would contact the dog’s keeper and investigate. It could prosecute if there is sufficient evidence that someone had broken the law.
The department advised residents to remain calm and keep their distance from unattended dogs, and to call 1823 to report them. Anyone facing a dog that is attacking or poses an immediate danger should call police immediately.
