A public minibus overturned on Kwai Chung Road towards Tsuen Wan near Lai Chi Kok Park on the morning of 28 August 2026, briefly obstructing traffic in the area. Reports put the crash at between about 7am and 7.43am.
The minibus lost control, struck the roadside barrier on its left and then overturned to the right, coming to rest across the traffic lanes. Heavy white smoke was reported from underneath the vehicle, whose front was badly damaged and bumper had come loose.
The male driver climbed out by himself and was reported to have suffered minor injuries or abrasions. He was taken by ambulance for treatment; i-CABLE News reported that he was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital, while Ming Pao said he boarded an ambulance for treatment. Police and firefighters attended after the crash.
Ming Pao reported that there were no passengers on board. It also cited dashcam footage suggesting that the minibus may have braked sharply and swerved to avoid a private car before crossing two lanes and hitting the roadside barrier. That suggested manoeuvre has not been established as the confirmed cause of the crash.
Parts of the road were blocked after the collision, and traffic towards Tsuen Wan was temporarily affected. The reports did not establish the driver’s final condition, whether he remained in hospital, the confirmed cause of the crash or when traffic returned fully to normal.
