The Digital Policy Office said an 1823 call was diverted to voicemail around 1am on October 19 because all on-duty staff were handling other calls. The caller left no message.
At 1:56am, another call reported a monkey described as near death on a hillside opposite the petrol station at 338 Tai Po Road in Sham Shui Po. The office said 1823 system records show a customer service officer recorded the report and referred it immediately to the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department. The officer also phoned an on-duty department staff member because the case was considered urgent.
The Digital Policy Office said it would review the service and study adding resources, including more staff during overnight hours.
